Love in Vain 02:54
And I followed her to the station With a suitcase in my hand And I followed her to the station With a suitcase in my hand Well, it's hard to tell, it's hard to tell When all your love's in vain All my love's in vain When the train rolled up to the station I looked her in the eye When the train rolled up to the station And I looked her in the eye Well, I was lonesome, I felt so lonesome And I could not help but cry All my love's in vain When the train, it left the station With two lights on behind When the train, it left the station With two lights on behind Well, the blue light was my blues And the red light was my mind All my love's in vain Ou hou ou ou ou Hoo, Willie Mae Oh oh oh oh oh hey Hoo, Willie Mae Ou ou ou ou ou ou hee vee oh woe All my love's in vain

In The Pines 04:15
Black girl black girl Don’t lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night In the mines ‘neath the pines Where the sun never shines I would shiver the cold night through Black girl black girl Where did you go? I’m going on my long way home ‘Neath the pines ‘neath the pines Where the sun never shines I’m going where the cold wind blows My husband was a railroad man He lives a mile and a half from here My head was found ‘neath a driving wheel And my body never ever was found Black girl don’t you lie to me Tell me where did you sleep last night? ‘Neath the pines ‘neath the pines Where the sun never shines I would shiver the whole night through Mmmm … Traditional Lyrics arranged by David Nicholson

about

In 2018 Nicholson decided to state a musical position based on a lifelong love of the blues. The idea was to produce a vinyl artifact in the manner of a classic 70’s LP. The recordings would be made in his painting studio in the minimalist spirit of field recordings, but using modern technology. One exception was made to record in the Freiberg Cathedral on their Silbermann organ.
